The Not Quite '96 Bookshelf

I reviewed these books in early 1997, but the reviews did not get published because they were not UNIX-specific enough, or were too programming-oriented, for the article I was doing at the time. While I understood the editor's decision, I hated to see them cut, because they were some of the best (IMO) to come out in 1996.
