We were traveling on U S highway 95 near Beady, NV near the California Nevada state line at about 8:00 AM on Monday, April 23rd in a NNW direction and my son and I saw a brillent whitish blue streak of light. I called it a meteorite. Can you give me more information about it? I am in my 80's and have never seen anything like it in my lifetime.

Donna and All,

Most meteor showers are produced by material from comets. Material from comets are very fragile and do not survive their plunge through the atmosphere to make it to the ground. Nearly all meteorites found on the ground are from random falls, not associated with any meteor showers. The odds of these rocks actually being meteorites is remote. You will need an expert to examine them.

Hi Donna here from Delaware

On or about the last week of April, I was doing some gardening and stumbled upon 2 large and 3 small what appeared to be rocks. I looked closely at them and they are not rocks nor cinder. They appear to look like meteorites. They have craters that look like thumb prints. Can you tell me if Delaware had any meteor showers during the last week of April?

Nancy and All,

The last few hours before dawn are the prime time to see meteors and the Lyrids. Look half way up in the sky in your darkest direction.

I hope this helps!
